DOB Public Dashboard

The Department of Buildings (DOB) Public Dashboard reflects the agency's commitment to providing information that offers a candid look at the agency’s efficiency and performance regarding its customer interactions, service goals, and regulatory enforcement.

Click the below links to access our dashboard! The dashboard offers data for the following:

Agency Performance

This section of the dashboard provides insight into DOB’s operational and organizational efficiency by sharing results on our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and workload measures, which show how DOB's work measures up to pre-determined targets.
Permit Operations

DOB regulates construction activity by issuing construction permits. This section of the dashboard provides information about permit applications and issuances broken down by type.
Inspections

DDOB conducts various inspections to assess the safety and compliance of construction projects, residential dwellings, and vacant properties. In addition to its staff, DOB also uses third-party inspection agencies to assist with this process. This section of the dashboard displays inspection data, broken down by Ward and inspection type.
Violations & Abatement

DOB has two tools that allow stakeholders to search for housing code or property maintenance violations and their statuses. The Landlord Violations Tool can be used to search an address or a landlord's name to see if a property has any unaddressed housing violations. The Housing Code Violations Tool can be used to search properties with violations and see how many have been abated.
Enforcement

DOB pursues enforcement actions to ensure compliance with District building, construction, and housing codes; and licensing regulations. When violations are found, the agency serves Notices of Infraction (NOIs) that carry potential fines on property owners. This section of the dashboard provides information on several NOI categories, including housing complaints and illegal construction, and offers data regarding property owners and NOI balances.
Vacant Properties

DOB is committed to providing accurate and accessible data on vacant properties in the District. This section of the dashboard contains all properties and lots classified as vacant or blighted by District government since Fiscal Year 2014. As a complaint-based program, if you suspect a property to be vacant and it does not appear on the Vacant Building Map, please request an inspection online (see link on Vacant Properties Page) so that its occupancy status may be confirmed.

As a complaint-based program, if you suspect a property to be vacant and it does not appear on the Vacant Building Map, please request an inspection online (link provided on Vacant Properties page) so that its occupancy status may be confirmed.
DOB Index

The DOB Index provides insight into the economic health of the District through a lens of construction activity. Since DOB regulates construction activity, it has a keen insight into where permits are being approved for large construction cranes, new construction projects, and home improvement projects.
Customer Service

This section of the dashboard highlights client satisfaction with DOB's services by displaying customer satisfaction survey results.
