Inspections
DDOB conducts various inspections to assess the safety and compliance of construction projects, residential dwellings, and vacant properties. In addition to its staff, DOB also uses third-party inspection agencies to assist with this process. This section of the dashboard displays inspection data, broken down by Ward and inspection type.

Violations & Abatement
DOB has two tools that allow stakeholders to search for housing code or property maintenance violations and their statuses. The Landlord Violations Tool can be used to search an address or a landlord's name to see if a property has any unaddressed housing violations. The Housing Code Violations Tool can be used to search properties with violations and see how many have been abated.

DOB pursues enforcement actions to ensure compliance with District building, construction, and housing codes; and licensing regulations. When violations are found, the agency serves Notices of Infraction (NOIs) that carry potential fines on property owners. This section of the dashboard provides information on several NOI categories, including housing complaints and illegal construction, and offers data regarding property owners and NOI balances.

This section of the dashboard contains all properties and lots classified as vacant or blighted by District government since Fiscal Year 2014. As a complaint-based program, if you suspect a property to be vacant and it does not appear on the Vacant Building Map, please request an inspection online (see link on Vacant Properties Page) so that its occupancy status may be confirmed.

Since DOB regulates construction activity, it has a keen insight into where permits are being approved for large construction cranes, new construction projects, and home improvement projects.
