Department of Buildings

DOB is excited to introduce Pop-Up Permits (PUPs), our new pilot program for customers to get a streamlined Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for temporary use of a previously vacant building for up to one (1) year - all without going through the traditional permitting process to maximize the time the space can operate. Learn more about Pop-Up Permits (PUPs).

ProjectDox FAQs

Will my system access/login be any different?
No, existing user profiles (email address and password) will remain the same. However the URL has changed. There is a redirect but if you have bookmarked the old ProjectDox URL you can delete that and replace it with the new URL, which is https://eplan9x.dcra.dc.gov/projectdox/

How do I find a list of my projects?
A new feature on ProjectDox now shows all active projects under the “All Projects” tab.

What is the recommended browser for ProjectDox?
The ProjectDox system is supported and can be accessed by using Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari web browsers.Currently this version of ProjectDox only works with Internet Explorer 11 or higher. Internet Explorer has always been the recommended browser for ProjectDox; however, we are working to integrate other browsers in the future.

What’s new?
The new ProjectDox dashboard allows users to easily view projects and tasks with fewer clicks and with our latest enhancements gives you more power to filter information. The result? Making permit submission as simple as 1, 2, 3.

When you log into your account you will notice the interface looks different. A new “All Projects” tab features all active projects – this is where you’ll find a list of your projects. All pending task(s) that you need to complete can be found under the “Tasks (PD)” tab. The applicant task(s) must be completed in order for projects to be submitted for pre-screening and plan review. Also available under the “All Projects” tab, you can search for projects by selecting the search field beneath the “Project” column. Enter the permit number or property address.
