Get a Building Plat
When you apply for a building permit to do exterior work on your property (such as building an addition or adding a deck), you must include a building plat – a plat map that includes drawings of all existing and proposed property improvements such as the house, the driveway, the deck you want to build, etc.
Get a Subdivision Plat
Applicants must provide the lot and square number(s) and a sketch of the provided layout of the lot(s) for the location where the subdivision is needed. If the subdivision involves a tax (for example: 800 series numbers) then a deed will be required.
Get a Wall Check
Are you in compliance with District wall check requirements? Failure to comply with District wall check requirements may result in DOB stopping the work on your project.
View Land Records (SurDocs)
SurDocs is an online research tool that enables the public to search all digital land surveys. This tool is used to view all field survey records and surveyor plats.
Get Street, Alley Closure/Dedication Approval, or Elimination of Building Restriction Line
Chapter 1400 of Title 24, District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) sets forth regulations related to the process of closing streets and alleys.
